Is Starlink Sold Out in San Diego?

As many of you know, Starlink is currently sold out in San Diego, leaving some customers frustrated and unsure of their options. At Ameritechs, we pride ourselves on finding solutions, even when the situation seems less than ideal. While we believe this shortage is temporary—likely due to the influx of snowbirds and holiday travelers in our region—we’ve discovered a workaround for those who need Starlink service immediately.

Our technician Edwin Sanchez recently encountered this challenge during an installation and found a creative solution to keep the customer connected. Edwin shared:

"I did an install, and it wouldn't let me set up and choose a residential plan for customer activation (due to sold-out status in San Diego). But there might be a way around the sold-out problem. The customer opted for roaming just to get it running. After everything was activated, I tried to change the plan to residential, and it went through. The only thing is, the confirmation says the residential plan won't take effect until next month, Dec. 26. That might be a loophole if customers don’t mind paying $165 for the first month."
Starlink Sold Out in San Diego County but Ameritechs have figured out a loophole!

This workaround allows customers to get their Starlink system online using the roaming plan. While this plan is slightly more expensive at $165 for the first month, it’s a temporary measure to bridge the gap until a residential plan can be activated.

We’ll continue to monitor the availability situation in San Diego and keep you updated with any changes or new solutions. At Ameritechs, we’re committed to keeping you connected—no matter what.

If you’re considering Starlink or are stuck waiting due to the current sold-out status, reach out to us. Our team is here to help you navigate these challenges and get you connected as quickly as possible.
